A double-tooth-roll filter cake crusher is a low-speed crushing machine designed for dewatered sludge cake, kitchen waste, biomass, and other high-moisture, sticky materials. Two parallel toothed rolls rotate toward each other, shearing and crushing lumpy filter cake to a specified particle size, preventing blockage of downstream conveying or drying equipment.
This unit is installed upstream of sludge drying, incineration, or composting systems in wastewater treatment plants, breaking large filter cake discharged from plate-and-frame or belt filter presses into a uniform size range for improved downstream drying efficiency.

Filter cake discharged from plate-and-frame filter presses is often in large, uneven slabs (30–50 mm thick). Feeding these directly into a low-temperature dryer causes uneven distribution. This crusher breaks the cake to 80% ≤ 40 mm before it is conveyed by scraper chain conveyor into the dryer, improving feed uniformity.
Before entering a sludge incinerator or cement kiln co-processing line, filter cake must be crushed to a feedable size to prevent bridging and jamming. The low-speed differential toothed rolls handle high-moisture material without overheating or ignition risk.
Sticky kitchen waste, digestate, and animal manure can be de-lumped by the double-tooth-roll crusher before anaerobic digestion or composting, improving downstream fermentation efficiency.
