Dust Caking on Mixer Wall: DSZ Single Shaft Screw Humidification Mixer for Power Plant Fly Ash

2026-11-02

Common Pain Points of Fly Ash Humidification in Power Plants

In the disposal process of power plant fly ash, dry ash will easily generate fugitive dust during direct transportation after dust collection. After long-term operation of traditional humidifiers, dust adheres to the inner wall of the chamber and gradually accumulates into caking. Material build-up will lead to unstable humidification output, and frequent shutdowns for manual cleaning will interrupt continuous ash discharge and raise maintenance workload. This issue becomes more obvious under high-temperature fly ash conditions, which is a key consideration for dust removal system retrofitting in many power plants.

Structural Features of DSZ Single Shaft Screw Humidification Mixer

The DSZ single shaft screw humidification mixer is upgraded from the DS series with an additional vibration system. It adopts a single-shaft screw structure to convey powder and mix materials with water for conditioning. The equipment can handle incoming material temperature up to 300℃ and requires stable water pressure ≥0.2MPa, suitable for high-temperature dry fly ash from power plants. The built-in vibration system acts on the mixing chamber continuously to reduce powder adhesion, mitigating dust caking and expanding the working range compared with conventional humidifiers. Multiple models are available with capacity ranging from 15t/h (DSZ-50) to 160t/h (DSZ-120), and custom capacity is acceptable.

Key Selection Guidelines

Two core parameters shall be confirmed first: incoming fly ash temperature and water supply pressure. When the ash temperature approaches 300℃, the heat resistance of the chamber should be verified. A stable water pressure of 0.2MPa or above is required to achieve uniform water-powder mixing. Calculate hourly ash throughput to select the matched model. Overload operation should be avoided to reduce failure risk. Custom solutions can be discussed if the ash volume fluctuates greatly on site.

Application Summary

The DSZ single shaft screw humidification mixer is designed to support power plant dust collection systems for continuous fly ash conditioning. It relieves wall caking and keeps reliable dust suppression during ash conveying. It can also be applied for cement plant collected dust, mineral powder and other bulk powder humidification.
